Our Salute to Women in Banking: Gail R. Bauer

Gail R. Bauer

Gail R. BauerChelsea State Bank was proud to honor Gail R. Bauer as the first recipient of CSB’s Salute to Women in Banking. Gail began her career with Chelsea State Bank in 1968 as a bookkeeper. She was promoted to Head of Bookkeeping in 1975 and Assistant Vice President and Auditor in 1986. Gail became our first female Vice President in 1994. She retired in 2000 after 32 years with the Chelsea State Bank family.

A leader in our Bank as well as the community, Gail served on a number of boards, including The Chelsea District Library Capital Campaign Committee. She was a Daughter of the American Revolution, a member of the Ann Arbor Women’s City Club, and a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ where she served as President of the Church Council. Gail was an avid supporter of Chelsea athletics and promoted the arts in the area. She was a founding member of Chelsea Area Players and of the Purple Rose Theatre Company, where she held the position of Vice President of the Executive Board for many years.

“We were proud to honor Gail as our first recipient of our Salute to Women in Banking,” said Chelsea State Bank CEO John Mann. “Gail was a dedicated employee who gave wholeheartedly to our Bank and to the Chelsea community she loved dearly. Sadly, Gail passed away on March 14. We extend our thoughts and prayers to her family.”

In honor of Gail’s contribution to the Bank and community, Chelsea State Bank has donated $500 to the Purple Rose Theatre Company.
