Meet Jonathan Straub, Loan Processor and Financial Analyst for Chelsea State Bank. And self-appointed Father of the Year and Spartan Fan!
Jonathan joined Chelsea State Bank as a Teller in 2018 and advanced to his current position as a Loan Processor and Financial Analyst nearly two years ago. Having lived in Chelsea most of his life, Jonathan has always been community minded, and has always appreciated what Chelsea State Bank stood for in the community.
“I chose to work at CSB because it is a smaller bank in my hometown that has the Chelsea feel and where you know your customers that come into the Bank,” said Jonathan. “Yet as a growing bank, there are opportunities and room for growth. It’s nice to work for a company that cares so much for the community. For example, the number of PPP loans (Paycheck Protection Program) that the Bank processed for the community was truly amazing.”
Jonathan went on to explain, “The relationships that I get to build with my customers, the community and my coworkers is what I value most about CSB. Knowing that what we do at the Bank has direct impact on our customers and the community is important to me. During Covid, CSB processed approximately 600 PPP loans for our community. It was rewarding seeing the direct impact that the loans had on many small businesses and individuals that really needed the money to get by.”
As a Loan Processor and Financial Analyst, Jonathan builds loan documents and services loans. In addition, he performs risk-based analysis on commercial loans. He is also available to answer customer questions on loans. It is truly the customer and community relationships Jonathan can build that keeps his job rewarding.
This is one memory Jonathan likes to share about serving his customers. “Once I was able to deliver temporary checks to a customer in a retirement community when they needed them yesterday but couldn’t make it to the Bank to pick them up. That’s the kind of service CSB provides.”
Jonathan graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics, with an emphasis in Econometrics. He and his wife reside in Lansing now with their newborn daughter.
